Pavilion

A Space for exhibitions and entertainments

During the site analysis, the Munk library located in University of Toronto. The space is designed for reading, studying and contemplating. The model standing in the center of the courtyard, becoming two main paths from the entrance to the door of library, and having more opening views. There is a small cafe  that serves a small selection of coffee and foods. The pavilion have enough space which can holding an exhibition for special events, and playing movies for entertainment.

I choose the translucent paper as the material of final model, it more hard and easy to create arcaded form. Translucent glass represented by the translucent paper, which will cause less UV rays that hurt the eyes and transformed natural light in a more diffused way to approach reading for a long period of time comfortably.

“Pavilions made dreams seem real, and reality seem dreamlike... the unique role of a pavilion [is] to fuse image and structure... The pavilion is the key instrument for negotiating the relationship between image and physical structure.”
